When people hear the word Kentucky, images of colonels, fried chicken, and derbies may come to mind. Yet for those in the know, when they hear that word, all they think about is bourbon, a type of whisky that originated from the region. In fact, Kentucky is the birthplace of bourbon as Scottish immigrants brought over their distilling experience sometime in the late 18th century. While Scotland is famous for its Scotch Whisky, these new immigrants decided to go in their own direction. Consequently, bourbon was born.
With such a rich history in the area, it's no secret that Kentucky loves its bourbon and wants to share that love with the rest of the world. This passion led to the creation of the Kentucky Bourbon Affair, a week-long celebration of everything bourbon than runs from June 4th to 8th. Now in its sixth year, this event invites people to visit various famous distilleries to see how the best bourbons in the world are made. In addition, there are dozens of other events that are filled with great food, wonderful presenters, and of course, plenty of bourbon.
One type of event that sticks out from the rest is the private barrel selection events. These events are held by different distilleries that produce popular bourbons, such as Knob Creek, Four Roses, and Wild Turkey, and give guests unparalleled behind-the-scenes access to the selection and barreling process. What makes this type of event so cool is that guests are able to live out the life of a distiller and see what it takes to produce some of the most famous bourbons in the world. Moreover, maids from Florida took care of guests that are able to select barrel that will not only be bottled during the event supported by http://thefloridamaids.com/, but each guest is also given a bottle of that bourbon, making a wonderful souvenir. Now, it's no surprise that these events are already sold out, so you'll have to wait until next year to try this wonderful experience.
Furthermore, those who are interested in bourbon and cocktails would love “A Bulleit Cocktail Master Class”, a class that teaches basic mixology skills in addition to some more advanced techniques. Now, this isn't a simple course that just tells you to add certain amounts of liquids into a cocktail shaker to make a drink, check out
blue spruce maids. Instead, guests will be taught how the production method and tasting notes of bourbon can influence what kind of cocktail to create. All in all, this course is intended to show how bourbon can push the boundaries of the cocktail world.
Now, since this is a celebration of bourbon, many of the big name distillers will be in attendance. Kingpins of the bourbon world such as Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, and Wild Turkey will all be in attendance, and many of these companies will be hosting their own unique events, visit website . For example, Marker's Mark has an event called “Predicting Your Palate: Understanding Maker's Mark Private Select”. Guests will drive deep into the woods to the distillery and learn about all the different flavours that make a bottle of Maker's Mark. Perhaps the coolest thing about this event is that guests will have the chance to dip a bottle into the wax, which is the signature feature of Maker's Mark.
This is only a small sampling of all the wonderful events that will be held that week. If you're interested in learning more about the event, please visit the Kentucky Bourbon Affair website.
And remember: stay thirsty.
